Complete Meal Meusli - Raw and Grain Free

Well the ole man's gone Raw!! well for 10 days that is. Not an easy feat when you work week on/week off. One week at home with me who loves making raw anything and a kitchen that's bursting with the most amazing fresh tropical fruits and the next in the middle of the desert with die hard guys that live on meat and potatoes followed by pudding and custard in a mess that caters for such!

I made up lot of little raw treats and flatbreads for him in my dehydrator so that he had  portable food that would last the week and the journey but his bag isn't that big so he was a bit limited as to how much he could take with him.

One of the things I made him was this muesli. It's portable, doesn't need refrigeration and a complete meal as I added Protein Powder to it as well as lot of activated nuts and seeds and lots of dried fruit. So as you can see a healthy mix of Protein, Fats and Carbs! I ground some of the nut and seeds so that if the only thing he has to mix with it is water then it will create a bit of a nut milk. I tried it with water before he left and I thought it tasted great. But then, I am easy pleased and my palette is very easy to please when it come to raw food.

Raw and Grain Free Meusli
Makes: about a 1kg bag or container

Ingredients: all are approximate

Good handful or 1/2 to 1 cup each of:

Lightly hand crushed walnuts
Sunflower seeds
Goji berries
Chia seeds
Flax seeds
Hemp seeds 
Raw vegan protein powder 

Lightly chopped in a blender (saved time cutting up, but you can dice them up if you wish)

1 cup each of
Dried figs
Organic dried apricots (I didn't have any but they would be nice added)

Blend into a fine meal

Sunflower seeds


2-4 tbs dehydrated coconut sugar
2 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp vanilla powder

Add everything to a large mixing bowl and stir it to combine all of the ingredients. You may have to use your hand as the figs and dates tend to stick together. Store in an airtight container or bag in either the fridge or pantry. If it's very hot where you live it would be better to refrigerate to protect the delicate oils in the nuts and seeds.

There you have it, a quick and easy Muesli, Grain free, Raw, Portable and versatile. Add it to fruit salads, smoothies, blissballs, desserts or just add water and enjoy!

Add some chopped and puréed tropical fruits.. then call it Heaven in a Bowl

  1. What a challenge for the man! What a great idea to send him off with portable dried fuel. The meusli sounds really delicious to me right now. I'm on day 16 of a juice cleanse and would love to munch on this!
